When and in which circumstances has Kontra association been created ?
SLO : "well, I have been into music for a long time and after my period as a session/band musician I started to work as a producer that uses only knobs as a expression ;-). Since 97 I've been into dnb and I would love for it to grow stronger and stronger on a daily basis. Because only people who are into dnb and with whom I can work are NYC, USA (Drazen www.blakanradar.ba) I was a bit desperate to find dnb mates. In 99-2000 I persuaded/converted muh mates (Aldin n Adnan) from house/techno music into dnb and their next step was DJ-ing as they were not musicians/producers. After a while we decided to officially become an active dnb crew (or to be more legally precise an NGO - non governmental organisation). In the beginning, there was a lot of people who were involved in the crew (mostly promoting the buzz) after a while only a few were left who were real active members."
ADNAN : "The Kontra association was born from one big friendship. We were gathering almost every night to speak about the problems in our society. So one day we started to fight off all those problems."
PEDJA : "Well, I heard about Kontra in 2001 when they booked Stakka and Skynet..At the of 2002 I got bored of every kind of music, so I started to listen to drum and bass. After some time I sent a e-mail to Slo to ask him if I could join Kontra and he said it was a 'closed society' ;) the rest of Kontra (Dzeno, Aldin and Adnan ) and I met at the  KONTRAnapad party with DJ Kemal… "

Why this name? And what are the objectives of Kontra ?
SLO : "The name says it all :
Adjective: counter (in Bosnian "kontra")
1. Indicating opposition or resistance.
See also : contrabass (on bosnian "kontrabass")
1. Pitched an octave below normal bass instrumental or vocal range
you get it? ;-)"
OBJECTIVES :
1 - "To promote good dnb everywhere where you can find people that recognize dnb musical values, and also make proper parties.
2 - educate people (primarily in local regions) about electronic music
3 - be involved in/organize humanitarian, cultural and educational activities.
4 - produce quality tunes (not just dnb)
5 - preserve Bosnian nationality and heritage? (laugh) ;-)

ADNAN : The "Kontra" in Bosnian language means the opposite, something different from this reality (war, nationalism, politics).
We realized that we are communicating with a lot of  young people and that we also have an opportunity to help them. It was our chance to help them and us!
From that day Kontra started many humanitarian and social projects through organizations of d'n'b party's. Some of the projects where about main problems in our society (HIV, drugs and alcohol, land mines, children with special problems...).
We just want to educate and to help our nation, especially young generations, because at this very moment our country is in a very bad position and the government have no strength and have no money to help them."

What are you doing now (organizing party, producing,…) ?
SLO : "Well, the situation is very bad at this moment in Sarajevo regarding parties, so we are trying to figure out what will be our next move.
Production-wise, we are now stronger, because this year we integrated a  new crew member who is a talented producer/DJ (Pedja), so I ain't alone anymore in producing ;-)
I produce mostly dnb, but I wasn't always into dnb. Before (<1997) I was involved in several bands as a member and as a session musician. But even then I was trying to express myself in a digital form '-) with the help of an  Atari ST + sampler & synth.. Music was experimentation with akward time signatures and some breakbeat-type music, so I didn't got first into electronic music via early racid-house-rave scene (I started to listen and produce 4x4 music laters) yet I started to get into electronic music via trip-hop, breaks and acid jazz. Then I heard about dnb, and got in instantly!"
PEDJA : "I produce every kind of electronicmusic ( goa, techno, house, down tempo, chill and of course drum and bass). Well, as a DJ I  prefer to mix drum and bass and techno…
