Did you ever play in Serbia ?
YeYeah, last year we played at Exit festival in Novi Sad. It was a very interesting experience. Actually, we decided to play there mainly because it was the same week as Srebrenica massacre 10th anniversary. So it was a good opportunity to say our opinion about that to the people who were the other side of the fence/barrier.
Before the last tune, we played some Serbian politician speech released during an intv like a week before the festival. There is today a huge conflict between Serbian who want to admit what happened and to take their responsibilities and the ones who still deny it. But the small group of those who want to admit the truth are totally silent so we decided to take a part of this intv and decided to play it. It was not like if it would be some Bosnians saying something about Srebrenica because we knew it would be too offensive. But this way, we confronted them with their people saying something that obviously they didn’t want to hear because they started throwing bottles. Ten minutes before, they were dancing and singing, and suddenly they became like crazy, trying to get on the stage… Ten security guys came to calm down the crowd ; so we just played our last song and left, that’s all. But it was a bad change, very stressful.
Of course, it was not all the people who became aggressive. Most of them were wondering what was happening, some were like showing respect to what we had done and we appreciated that. And some in the front were screaming and throwing bottles.
Actually, it was the same situation as what happened in Serbia during the war. You have a majority and a minority ; a minority which is really extreme. Here, the minority was 50 people in the front who were throwing bottles, and behind you had 3000 people who did anything to stop them. Exactly like during the war when you had some people who committed crimes and you had those who knew everything but didn’t do anything to change it.
We didn't know what to expect doing this ; we were conscious and we didn’t choose something offensive. It was a smart way to tell them what we think. But now I can’t imagine how they would have reacted if we had mentioned it another way, more directly. And it is hard to see this nationalist behaviour among the young people. It’s like a big and deep hate.
We tought it was a good place to do it because this exit festival is supposed to be an exit to another state of mind, not nationalistic. At the beginning they started this festival against Milosevic, but obviously it's not working that way, they always cover it with fancy DJs and nothing about politic. They don’t want to admit it and still say they want to be socially engaged, but it seems they are not…
They said they wanted to mark this anniversary of Srebrenica, but they cancelled everything related to that because they were too afraid there would be some incidents. My opinion is that they made a mistake : they didn’t even speak up after the festival, like saying “we wanted to do something but we were scared it would be too dangerous so we gave up”. And this is the worst. We could understand it’s a huge responsibility for 15 000 people to say such things. You can not take risk and do something which will cause incidents for sure, but nothing stops you to speak after if you do it for ideas, for the reason why this festival was created for… If you do it for money, please just don’t mention it ever…

What is your opinion regarding the influence of the International Community in BiH ?
It is not a question you can answer briefly. This system requires changes, in the first place in order to get into European Union. Then we should start worrying about which implication it will create.
Because in small countries like Bosnia, it is hard to be out of the European family. Somehow we belong there and it is a natural process that we should be integrated there. But until now we have been too concerned by domestic issues, like corruption and all these things which made the war, and because of which we have this economic situation, we can not enter theUE, enter anywhere, etc.
But we think that everyone has their responsibilities in the situation of Bosnia today, and especially European Union. Because of their role during the war and because now they are saying we have to change before integrating the Union. But they made the ground for all this political bullshit, and until we integrate the union, we can die, they don’t care. This people are just making and washing money in our country.
A very small amount of young people have their own opinion about Bosnia being one state with lots of nationalities. But most of them still feel like : “I am a Catholic so I am Croat. I am an Orthodox so I am Serbian. I am a Muslim so I am Bosniac” ; and it is total confusion in their mind. The country is split up. And that is exactly what the American wanted. The Dayton agreement is the proof of the “divide & rule” proverb…
In Mostar, the hate is still there between the two sides. And what have they done to make things better ? They put a statue of Bruce Lee as a monument of unity, like a symbol of fight for justice. But actually we can not find any connection…

Do you fell like a rise of the Intregrism in Bosnia ?
It can be an expansion of Islamic fanatics. But it may be just a trick, one more tricks to silence down Muslims, to make stronger that American policy which is to invade many countries (Eastern Europe, Middle East…) for the supposedly purpose of fighting against terrorism. We don’t think Islam is so strong, it is just a religion like another one. And all other things are just made out to be used for some dirty purposes.
Islam in Bosnia is very moderated. And during the war they imported these radical people from saudi ? Arabia, and now the whole community has trouble because of that. It is very instrumentalized and it was intentionally put where it was put. That’s why we want to present another picture of Bosnia : Bosnian Muslim are not radicalized.

Your projects now ?
We never know what will happen. We will try to promote ourselves as much as we can and try to awake our young people and dream of a united Bosnia with them.
Political engagement is still the most important point for us. Although music is important of course, we have been in music for more that 10 years, but the political part is the most important and we hope next year we will play more gigs abroad to inform people about the evolution of our country.
